591-593 King’s Road

591–593 King’s Road began life as a traditional two-storey Victorian commercial building on the lower stretch of the King’s Road, an area long associated with independent traders and specialist retailers. In the mid-20th century it housed a branch of John Lovibond & Sons Ltd, the long-established brewer-turned wine and spirit merchant, reflecting the street’s mix of local-serving shops and affluent Chelsea clientele. Following Lovibond’s closure and the wider consolidation of off-licence chains in the late 1960s, the property was redeveloped and amalgamated into a much larger retail footprint. It subsequently evolved into one of the largest showroom spaces on this part of the King’s Road, mirroring the street’s transition from traditional high street parade to destination retail strip.
